Attention, fans of FOX's Bones: The Mob Doctor would like to make a special appointment with you on New Year's Eve.
Although the network has yet to confirm the show's cancellation, The Mob Doctor will be airing its final four episodes as it finishes up its first (and only) thirteen-episode season, beginning tonight at 9:00 PM and continuing on Monday in the same timeslot with Episode 11. Entitled "Sibling Rivalry", Monday's offering will be a Bones-themed edition featuring a number of esoteric "Easter eggs" for observant viewers to discover. Josh Berman, cocreator of the freshman drama, served as a writer/producer on Bones from 2007 until 2011 and remains close friends with executive producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan.
"I miss working on the show," Berman said. "So I thought it would be nice to reward Bones fans with secret clues in the episode." Noting that Bones diehards should not miss the episode, Berman explains that the references to his previous series will be hidden throughout the show, such as the name of a guard dog or a patient. "But some are trickier and require a bit of thought," he warns. "It should be a fun treat for Bones fans." Adding to the intrigue, Berman stated that the first person on the East and West Coast to message him on Twitter with all of the hidden Bones Easter eggs will receive a prize.
In addition to the embedded Bones bits, the New Year's Eve episode will also advance the story as the show winds down its run. The penultimate episode will air on Saturday, January 5, while Berman promises a "shocking finale" with a true sense of closure on Monday, January 7. "Secrets will be revealed. Alliances will be tested. And the last five minutes are unbelievable," he teases. "I'm excited for the fans to see it."
The Mob Doctor was seemingly dead on arrival, but the series definitely has its fans. Are you one of them?
Anonymous: It's not a *crossover* episode with Bones, it's merely going to have a number of references *to* Bones. Much like Castle frequently has Firefly references, since Nathan Fillion is the star of both series.
