Happy New Year! Kathy Griffin attempts to perform oral sex on Anderson Cooper

Known for bringing her own brand of shock value to CNN's New Year's Eve broadcasts, Kathy Griffin literally stooped to a new low last night.

Following a report from a small Maine town about the local New Year's tradition of kissing a sardine on the mouth, the comedian dropped to her knees in front of co-host Anderson Cooper and attempted to kiss his genitals. The openly gay Cooper tried to defuse the situation by asking her if she had dropped something, but Griffin simply responded that she was kissing his sardine. Although she had earlier threatened to "tickle [his] sack," Cooper seemed surprised and awkwardly blocked her from achieving her goal. Providing several moments of unpleasant television, Cooper struggled to pull Griffin to her feet while she continued "going down" and warned him that she could "do this all night long […] you know you want to." Griffin lived up to her promises, as she repeatedly crouched down and tried to get near his crotch throughout the broadcast, which Cooper negated by crouching down himself. She also made constant references to his genitalia and generally tried to make him as uncomfortable as possible, without any regard for the entertainment of the viewers. In previous years, Griffin has dropped the dreaded F-bomb, barked back at a heckler with a vulgar comment about fellatio, and (*shudder*) stripped down to her underwear.

Kathy Griffin is the worst kind of attention whore. I know she has her fans and people who like her shtick, but she has no verifiable skill or talent beyond her pathetic attempts to draw attention to herself. I guess it works though, because here we are talking about Kathy Griffin rather than Ryan Seacrest or Carson Daly.
