One of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2012 was Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city', a fantastic rap concept album which had not one but many standout tracks. The 25-year-old rapper, who had previously achieved minor success with 2011's Section.80, became one of the most buzzed-about artists of last year -- and deservingly so.
Saturday Night Live, which previously nabbed the musician behind the other best album of 2012 (Frank Ocean), has now gotten Kendrick Lamar to be a musical guest on the show. The rapper will be performing on the show's January 26 episode, which will be hosted by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Though I haven't regularly watched Saturday Night Live in a couple of years, I might tune in to see Lamar's performance -- the guy is talented. No word yet on which songs he'll be performing, but my money is on a definite performance of "Swimming Pools (Drank)," and probably "Backseat Freestyle" -- for which Lamar recently released a hilarious black-and-white music video.
