Callie Thorne’s USA drama is getting 10 more episodes.
We reported back in late November that Necessary Roughness was likely to get renewed, and now the cable network has officially given the hour-long drama a third season. This completes the renewal process of USA’s scripted dramas.
"Necessary Roughness is an important page in our network playbook,” Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber, USA co- presidents, said in a joint statement. “With a standout team of actors and writers playing at the top of their game, the upcoming seasons promise to deliver high-impact and creative storytelling.”
“Necessary Roughness” centers on Dr. Dani Santino (played by Thorne) who works as a sports psychologist for the New York Hawks while juggling being a single mother.
Marc Blucas, Scott Cohen, Hannah Marks, Patrick Johnson and Mehcad Brooks also appear on the show. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, football legend Joe Theismann, and actors Will Chase, Peter MacNichol, Jeff Nordling and Neil Hopkins will make guest appearances soon on the show.
“Suits,” “Burn Notice,” “Royal Pains,” “White Collar” and “Covert Affairs” will also return for new seasons. Newcomer “Graceland” also launches this summer.
“Necessary Roughness’” second season’s second half begins Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. ET. The season two premiere had 4.6 million viewers tune in.
