Are you ready to get defiant?
Syfy certainly is. Its new program, 'Defiance,' is scheduled to premiere Monday, April 15 at 9 p.m. on the cable network. Unfortunately, the movie is not a series based on the pretty good 2008 World War II movie with the same name that stared Daniel Craig and Liev Scheiber. I guess that would not really be Syfy's style, huh? Instead, the 12-episode first season will deal with the Votans, a species that comes to Earth after their star system is destroyed. However, they find Earth to not be very welcoming and are stranded in orbit for six years and, in desperation, attack Earth. The war sees the Earth changed in drastic ways.
'Defiance' will also bridge scripted television and online gaming. A game will release before the TV series debuts and both media platforms will involve the overarching plot and storylines. That could be pretty cool, actually, if it is done well.
The program stars Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner.
What do you think of this? Syfy programs generally seem poorly done, in my opinion, but I think I might check this out as the storyline sounds pretty interesting. Anyone with me?
