Even more exciting news coming out of FOX today, with the announcement that Seth Rogen ('The Guilt Trip,' 'The Green Hornet') will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of the Mindy Kaling sitcom 'The Mindy Project.'
Hot on the heels of announcements that B.J. Novak would be joining 'The Mindy Project' for an arc and that Mary Grill had landed a major recurring role on the series as well, 'Project' flexes a little more muscle and pulls Rogen into the mix. Having recently made television guest appearances on 'Eastbound & Down' and 'The League,' Rogen has a habit of helping out his personal friends in their comedic television endeavors. Given that Kaling will be appearing as herself in the upcoming Rogen-directed feature film 'This is the End,' Rogen's appearance on 'The Mindy Project' isn't that much of a surprise.
So who will the furry funnyman be playing on the FOX series? Rogen will appear on the February 19th episode of 'Project' as Sam, a man who once had a teen romance with Mindy. In fact, viewers learn over the course of the episode that Sam was the first man Mindy ever kissed. The episode is entitled "The One that Got Away" and features Sam and Mindy potentially rekindling their romance after reminiscing about their time together at summer camp.
Rogen appears in 'The Guilt Trip,' a comedy co-starring Academy Award winner Barbara Streisand, in theatres now. His upcoming feature 'This is the End' is a remake of a short film he made with fellow Canadian actor/director Jay Baruchel. The film features Rogen, Baruchel, James Franco and other actors playing themselves at a party at Franco's home... when the apocalypse begins.
'The Mindy Project' returns with new episodes tonight on FOX.
