Big news “Vampire Diaries” fans! The CW has officially announced that they will be developing a spinoff of the hit vampire series, and even better, you will get a chance to see the pilot. There have been rumours surrounding the possible extension of the “Vampire Diaries” franchise for years, following its big success, and The CW has finally committed to launching a pilot for a spinoff that will air within the show’s current fourth season.
The spinoff is tentatively being called “The Originals”, which of course refers to the first existing vampires in the world. Seven of them altogether, Mikael, Elijah, Finn, Niklaus, Kol, Rebekah and Alaric, are the strongest and most powerful vampires on the planet and lived in Europe for many centuries. The spinoff will centre on this family and will star Joseph Morgan as Niklaus (Klaus).
In the spinoff episode, which will air on April 25th, Klaus “Returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel.” The episode is being written by “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec, who will also serve as showrunner if the pilot turns into a series.
Are you excited to see the pilot? Do you think it has a good chance of being turned into a series?
