A quiet Saturday in the world of television news changed rapidly as Showtime announced the return dates of its two most popular programs, 'Homeland' and 'Dexter.' For the first time, these two programs will not be paired together.
'Dexter' returns earlier than usual, beginning Sunday, June 30 at 9 p.m. This season, the eighth of the program's run, will be the final season (unless plans change). The last season, which concluded in December, saw many changes to the status quo (this article will go spoiler free). 'Dexter' will now be wedded to 'Ray Donovan,' which premieres after the season premiere of 'Dexter.'
'Homeland' will return after 'Dexter's' season ends. The third season of the Emmy-winning program will return Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. The program will now be paired with 'Masters of Sex,' which premieres after 'Homeland' the same evening.
Both return dates were announced on each program's respective Facebook page.
I am surprised at this news. That is very little turnaround time for 'Dexter' - however, the writers have said they have a plan and that the upcoming season will be paired very closely to what happened last season. I was not a huge fan of last season, until the last three episodes, when I really thought it picked up.
Are you as excited for the return of these programs as I am?
