If you haven't heard already, the new A&E drama series Bates Motel will premiere on Monday, March 18 at 10:00 PM. A prequel of sorts to Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic Psycho, Bates Motel is a contemporary reimagining of the origin story of Norman Bates, the most influential big-screen slasher of all time. Set in the modern world complete with iPods and cell phones, Freddie Highmore will portray young Norman while Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga will play his overbearing mother Norma.
In advance of the premiere, the network has released several teaser posters that shed some light on the tone of the show, while also raising more questions than answers. Who is the unfortunate woman handcuffed to a bathroom sink? Why is there a flaming corpse hanging around the property, and does it have anything to do with the old expression, "liar liar, pants on fire?" Who is the young lady on oxygen, and is the air particularly thin around the Bates Motel? Did Norma take a cue from the show Weeds and decide to grow and sell marijuana to support her family? Where did the severed hand come from, and why didn't whoever cut it off steal the watch? It looks like a nice watch.
Have a look at these posters and let us know what you think they tell you about Bates Motel. Will you be checking in?
