Will 2012 finally be the year that Sarah Chalke finds a new permanent gig? As a die-hard Scrubs fan, and as a fan of her work on Roseanne before that, I certainly hope so.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the former Dr. Elliot Reid will be headlining a new comedy pilot in production over at ABC entitled How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life. Wow, that title is certainly a mouthful. I'd be willing to bet money that it gets shortened drastically before it sees air. Anyway, the lovely Ms. Chalke will portray "Polly", a single mother who is forced to move back in with her eccentric parents "Elaine" and "Max" after a divorce. True, it's a standard sitcom plot , but much worse comic actors than Sarah have done more with less. Obviously, a big part of the show's potential appeal hinges on just who is cast in the roles of her parents. I'd look for one or both to be played by sitcom vets so that Chalke doesn't have to carry the show entirely on her back.
It's been an up and down last few years in the career of Becky #2. She's had a well-received recurring turn as "Stella" on How I Met Your Mother, but has been given two chances to lead her own series and both have failed. She starred in another comedy pilot for ABC in 2010 called Freshman, that never even saw the light of day, and followed that up by booking the female lead role in the very short lived CBS comedy Mad Love. Hopefully HOLWYPFTROYL (takes breath) will lead her to greener pastures.
Where do you guys stand? Is Sarah Chalke enough to get to watch this show? Will this be another bomb for her? Tell us about in the comments.
Yep, it will be reason enough to watc the first episodes. After that, it's better be good. ^^
