An Emmy-winning actress has been cast in a CBS drama project.
Toni Collette has signed on to “Hostages,” which just received a pilot greenlight from CBS.
Collette will play a successful surgeon living in Washington, D.C. who gets picked to operate on the president. Collette is thrust in the middle of a political conspiracy; her family gets taken hostage, and it is up to her to save her husband and children’s lives.
Collette has appeared in features “The Sixth Sense” and “About A Boy,” and series “The United States of Tara,” for which she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy award.
The “Hostages” pilot was written, produced and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“The Day After Tomorrow”). Producer Jerry Bruckheimer will exec produce along with Jonathan Littman, Omri Givon, Rotem Shamir and Chayim Sharir. “Hostages” is based on an Israeli project which was never produced, and is from Warner Bros.
This is the second pilot order for CBS this pilot season. CBS recently announced production on a single-camera- style comedy series from Jim Gaffigan and Peter Tolan.
