An unfortunate film set accident Thursday night has left two individuals from ABC’s crime drama, “Castle”, in serious medical condition. One stuntman and an actress, Karen David, were injured during a driving scene that took place on the Paramount Pictures lot and both were hospitalized.
Information about the incident, which was first reported by Deadline yesterday, is continuing to roll in, but it is apparent that both individuals were injured while performing a scene from a moving van. Talent manager William Blayock says “Karen was the actress in the scene with the stuntman,” he said. “They fell from a moving van when a door would not shut. Karen was in the emergency room for hours being treated. She has been released but is in serious pain and has to wear a neck brace.” A SAG-SFTRA spoke woman says that the union is investigating the terrible incident. The stuntman has sustained a severe head injury and is still being hospitalized in serious condition.
The last serious injury to come out of a film set in L.A. happened in September when a diver who was working on a scene for the Disney film “The Lone Ranger” drowned while prepping the tank of an underwater scene. The L.A. coroner’s office says that the 48-year old man appeared to have suffered from a heart attack while cleaning the pool.
