On February 10, AMC's smash hit series The Walking Dead returns to finish its third season. The first half of the season has been very shocking, to say the least.
(SPOILERS FROM HERE ON)
Two main characters of the series, Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) and T-Dog (IronE Singleton), have already died this season. Greg Nicotero, a co-executive producer on the show (as well as an Emmy-winning VFX designer), said at the Golden Globes that viewers might see more shocking deaths this season.
"We've established a certain scenario on our show where nobody is safe -- and certainly in the back-half of our season, it doesn't get easy for anybody," Nicotero said. "We have the whole Woodbury community with the Governor (David Morrissey) and our principal cast. We'll probably end our season minus a castmember or two."
It seems very likely that a second battle between Rick's crew and the Governor's is coming. Nicotero touched on that, as well as the anger that now exists in the Governor (who is minus one eye).
"[The fight] moves around a lot," he said. "It's very possible there might be another attack on Woodbury. The beauty is you're not confined to one location, even though we spend a lot of our season at Woodbury or the prison. The bottom line is that we've established the conflict between the Governor and Rick, and we'll explore that a lot more in the second half."
Andrea (Laurie Holden) will play a bigger part in the rest of the season. In the graphic novel, she eventually takes up with Rick. Is the AMC series heading that way?
"Andrea's eyes are now opening; she had no idea that Rick and the others were still alive. Now she's learning that the group is not only alive but that one of her friends has been captured by the man she's been romantically involved with (The Governor). Her head is exploding," Holden said, adding that "Andrea has a really good sense of character, and she loves Rick's group. She doesn't know they're at the prison, so she's got a lot of catching up to do. But I can guarantee you that what she does, her heart is in the right place."
Are you ready for The Walking Dead to return? What do you predict will happen? I have read all the graphic novels of the series and have added the comic to my pull list. It is pretty interesting how they have ventured off the established story and made it their own on AMC. I like the entire Walking Dead universe and hope that it can continue to produce great TV, comics and video games for some time to come.
