Have you had a chance to catch NBC's Deception? The series, a prime-time soap opera, deals with Detective Joanna Locasto, whose best friend Vivian Bowers is found dead in a motel. Bowers and Locasto had become estranged and the detective finds herself involved with Vivian's family following Vivian's death. Slowly Locasto begins trying to figure out what happened to her friend and who was involved in her untimely demise.
The third episode of the program airs this evening at 10 p.m. Actress Meagan Good, who plays Locasto, recently talked about the program and her character. She called Joanna someone she admired, saying that she is not "self-righteous or judgmental," and called the character's efforts to walk the line between being honest and being deceitful to the Bowers (as she investigates them) "unique".
"Being put back into that atmosphere, where she's walking a thin line of what her truth is and at the same time not being who she really is, it's a weird, fun space to live in," said Good. "You have to figure out the strongest place to function from. Is the strongest place the relationship she has with the family or getting justice for her best friend or being who she is at heart?"
Good said that thus far, the quieter scenes are the ones that are the most challenging so far.
"The simpler scenes are the ones that stand out to me because that's when she really has to fight to be somebody she's not and be somebody she is," she said. "[Especially] the scenes between her and Julian (the youngest son of the Bowers, played by Wes Brown). This guy was her first first; she still has feelings for him after all these years but she doesn't know if he could be Vivian's murderer."=
Do you have any guesses on what happened to Vivian and who did it?
