When ABC's "Body of Proof" returns for its third season on February 19th, viewers should expect something of a makeover.

The medical mystery series had a bit of an overhaul in its cast and direction during its time off. Gone are several of the original co-stars to series lead Dana Delany, including Nicholas Bishop, Sonja Sohn, and John Carroll Lynch. In their place steps "Human Target" and "Boston Legal" actor Mark Valley, joining the series as a police detective with ties to Delany's Dr. Megan Hunt.
"We didn't really know, when we started filming last summer, what the difference was going to be," Delany told Zap2It in a recent interview. "Then as the scripts roll in and things happen, you go, 'Oh! I see. That's what the show is now.' It's just much more of a driven through-line."
Delany is happy to welcome aboard new castmate Valley, who she had previously worked with on the brief Fox series "Pasadena." The actress said, "I just knew that he has a really strong work ethic, so I was really happy about that."
"In the long run, I think this is probably for the best," she continued. "It had nothing to do with the other actors; the writers had boxed themselves into a corner. Megan was so all-knowing and powerful, there was nobody who was standing up to her, and you need that conflict for the drama."
Don't miss the third season premiere of "Body of Proof," February 19th on ABC.
