Despite being a mere fourteen years older than the actress who will be playing his daughter, Andy Richter ('Arrested Development,' 'Andy Richter Controls the Universe') has been tapped to play Penny's father on an upcoming episode of 'Happy Endings.'
Anyone who has been watching 'Happy Endings' knows that the character of Penny (played by Casey Wilson) has some deep-rooted issues when it comes to men and romantic relationships; the arrival of her father should help to explain away some of those neuroses. TVLine.com reports that the episode will directly address the miniscule age differential between father and daughter: Richter's character Roy and Penny's mother Dana (played by Megan Mullally) had Penny when they were really.... REALLY young.
Now that Penny seems to have landed herself a happy, steady relationship with Pete (Nick Zano) for the first time in her life, will the sudden appearance of her father throw her into old habits?
No word of yet if the eight-year age gap between Richter and the fifty-five year old Megan Mullally will be addressed on the show; given the incredible shape that Mullally is in, she could easily pass for younger than Richter rather than older. Mullally has been making guest appearances on '30 Rock' and 'Parks and Recreation' of late, keeping her comedy skills sharp. Richter can be seen as Conan O'Brien's lovable announcer and sidekick every night on 'Conan.' It was also confirmed that Richter will be making an appearance in the highly anticipated new season of 'Arrested Development' debuting later this year.
'Happy Endings' airs on ABC.
