The media just cannot get enough of Lance Armstrong lately – and “Dancing with the Stars” wants a piece of the action. In a surprisingly smart move, Lance Armstrong turned down an offer from the reality show to be on their next season in the spring. I think the guy has had enough attention for the time being, and I truly don’t think he would have been welcomed with open arms by the public after his recent appearance on Oprah where he admitted to doping.
ABC offered disgraced former cyclist, Armstrong, a spot on their reality series before his recent doping confession, sources say, but I am sure they are even more interested now that he is such a media sensation. While it would be a bad move on Armstrong’s part (and I am sure his PR people are all over this), you cannot deny that it would have pulled in the ratings for the reality show.
Armstrong has been invited to be a part of the show for years, and is one of the big profile celebrities on the “Dancing with the Stars” must-have list. Armstrong’s spokesperson confirmed this information, saying “Lance has been offered the show each and every year since its inception. Although flattered he has passed on their generous offers.”
Let the “Armstrong would probably just use performance enhancing drugs to win the show anyways – har, har, har” jokes roll in.
