CBS' two Hawaii-based crime properties are about to crossover.... sort of.
Larry Manetti, who played Slick Rick for eight seasons of 'Magnum, P.I.' from 1980-88, will be making a guest appearance on CBS' current Hawaii procedural drama, 'Hawaii Five-0.'
So how is this a sort-of crossover? On 'Magnum, P.I.,' as Rick Wright, Manetti played a suave playboy lounge singer who owned an exclusive beachfront nightclub. In the upcoming 'Hawaii Five-0' episode entitled "Pa' ani," Manetti plays Nicky 'The Kid' Demarco... a suave playboy lounge singer who owned an exclusive beachfront nightclub.
According to the description of the episode, Nicky (Manetti) was once mentored by the one and only Frank Sinatra. The elegantly-dressed Demarco owns The Tiki Lounge, a spot that both McGarrett (played by Alex O'Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan)
remember their fathers speaking about. Back in the day, McGarrett & Danny's dads would watch Demarco perform.
In the episode, Manetti's Demarco will not only assist our heroes in catching the bad guy, but he will also croon the classic Sinatra tune "I Got You Under My Skin." Reportedly, the Nicky Demarco character could become a recurring guest star.
This is just the latest in a long string of throwbacks that the producers of 'Hawaii Five-0' have delivered to television fans. Recently, the series recreated one of the most popular episodes of the original show, the case of the Hookman.
