TV Names at the Movies This Weekend (1/25)

It's that time of the week where, once again, we look at the TV actors appearing in new films hitting the box office this weekend (January 25). Unlike last week's rather sparse offering, there are plenty of television names here to go around (mostly thanks to the comedy behemoth Movie 43). So, without further ado, let's get into some faces from the small screen that you might recognize on the big screen.

The first movie on the list is the weird fantasy-action film 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.' Star Gemma Arterton (Gretel) became well known for starring in the BBC miniseries Tess of the D'Urbervilles, but hasn't had a TV role since. 'Prison Break' actor Peter Stormare will appear in the film as Sheriff Barringer, while Nip/Tuck actress Famke Janssen will play the film's witch antagonist, Muriel. Rounding out the film's movie cast is Zoe Bell (playing another witch), who some might remember as suicidal freighter crew member Regina in LOST's fourth season.

Then there's the delightfully weird-looking John Dies at the End (pictured), a surreal comedy-horror film based on the novel by Cracked.com editor David Wong. It features not one but two LOST alumni -- Daniel Roebuck (Leslie Arzt) and Clancy Brown (Kelvin Inman). The film will also feature Kevin Michael Richardson (the voice of Cleveland Jr. on FOX's animated 'The Cleveland Show') and Glynn Turman, who played Baltimore mayor Clarence Royce in HBO's series The Wire.

A film getting a smaller release is the political drama Knife Fight, which stars 'Parks & Recreation' and 'Brothers and Sisters' star Rob Lowe. The film also features 'House' alumna and current 'Once Upon a Time' star Jennifer Morrison.

There's the obligatory Jason Statham actioner 'Parker,' which features a few TV heavy hitters. 'The Shield' star Michael Chiklis has a major role, as does 'The Wire' and 'Treme' actor Wendell Pierce. Bobby Cannavale, fresh off his stint as Gyp Rosetti in the third season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, also stars.

And, finally, we get to the big one: Movie 43. As an anthology movie, it has a lot (a LOT) of television actors/directions/writers. We'll just list them all in one go, shall we? The film features Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad), Kristen Bell (Heroes, House of Lies), Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), Bobby Cannavale (again, Boardwalk Empire), Tony Shalhoub (Monk), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Jimmy Bennett (No Ordinary Family), Matt Walsh (Dog Bites Man, Veep), Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation), Stephen Merchant (The Office, Extras, Life's Too Short), Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show), John Hodgman (The Daily Show), Patrick Warburton (Archer), and J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm). Mr. Show creator and Breaking Bad actor Bob Odenkirk also directs one of the film's segments. Whew. Should be something in there for all the TV fans out there.

So there you have it. Which of these movies are you planning on checking out this weekend?
