Hardcore Pawn has become the lynchpin of the TruTV lineup. Its success has led to a spin-off, Hardcore Pawn: Chicago, which became the network's highest rated premiere ever.
With the success of the franchise as a whole, today's news that it was coming back for a seventh season was hardly unexpected or a surprise.
The show is the top-rated on the network and recently finished its 100th episode. This season has seen the show draw its largest audience, opening with 3.1 million viewers and 1.4 million in the adults 18-49 demographic. It currently averages 2.6 million viewers each week, which is an increase of 11 percent from last season.
The series provides a behind the scenes look at the pawnbroker family that runs American Jewelry & Loan, led by Les Gold. Gold opened his business in 1978 in Detroit, moving to his current location in 1993. In 2011, he opened a second location in Pontiac, Michigan, which was feature in the fifth and sixth seasons of the series.
Hardcore Pawn was created by Zodiak New York and is executive produced by Mike Gamson, Natalka Znak and Richard Dominick.
Are you excited the series will live on? I have never caught an episode and do not intend to - to each their own, however.
It's absolute crap as a pawn show.
It's brilliant as a reality show.
