ABC and Sofia Vergara are getting pretty serious.

The network ordered to pilot an adaptation of “Killer Women,” an Argentine series, from the "Modern Family" star. ABC also added a drama from Kyle Killen (creator of “Awake”).
“Killer Women” focuses on a female Texas Ranger. Vergara is attached to exec produce the soap-ish, hour- long procedural. ABC gave the project a script commitment in October.
The Argentine series “Mueres Asesinas” was based on a book trilogy by Marisa Grinstein of the same name. Hannah Shakespeare (“The Raven”) will write the script. Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”), Vergara, Shakespeare and Luis Balaguer (Vergara’s Latin World Entertainment partner) will executive produce.
Killen’s “Influence” is a workplace ensemble about the relationship between two brothers running an interesting agency. That agency uses human motivation and manipulation to attack the problems of its clients.
Killer (“Lone Star”) will write the hour- long project’s pilot. He has a deal at 20th Television, and is represented by WME, Anonymous Content and Lichter Grossman.
Killen wrote Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster movie “The Beaver.”
A legal drama from David Shore (creator of “House”) and several others have been picked up this season, making a grand total of seven for ABC.
