One of the most anticipated upcoming series is FX's The Americans, which stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. The duo stars as two KGB spies who have an arranged marriage so they can pretend to be Americans and spy on the United States in the early 1980s, as the Cold War began winding down. The couple's two children know nothing of their parent's true allegiance and things are going smoothly until a new neighbor moves in - a new neighbor who happens to work in counter intelligence for the FBI.
FX is not going to be the only place to see the series, following today's announcement that ITV had secured the broadcast rights to the series for distribution overseas in the United Kingdom. The deal between the network and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution is for two years and will see the program debut on ITV "in the coming months."
Steve Cornish, Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution senior vice president and managing director, said that, "We have had a huge response to the show from international broadcasters since we launched it at MIPCOM and are delighted to have secured this two year deal with ITV."
The series debuts on FX on January 30.
