'The Killing' casts Elias Koteas in new season

The return of AMC's "The Killing" is bringing some fresh characters along with it.

Elias Koteas

In addition to returning cast members Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, expect to see some new faces in the Seattle mystery series' upcoming season. With its return to AMC sealed up, showrunner Veena Sud and "The Killing"'s writers have been hard at work laying out the new season's mystery, one that will not only draw Enos' Detective Linden back into the life she walked away from, but also a familiar face from her past.

With Rosie Larsen's murder case closed, the new season will find Kinnaman's Holder perplexed by an all new mystery: a runaway girl that has ties to an old case investigated by his former partner. Linden is lured back into the investigation to shed some light on the rash of murders she thought she had closed the book on years ago.

Veteran actor Elias Koteas has been cast as Linden's former partner Ed Skinner, a new series regular and in all likelihood the other person who had investigated the old case. The character is reportedly a well regarded former detective whose work is highly respected by the city's prosecutors and people.

Koteas is a fantastic character actor whose resume spans features and television, most recently seen on the big screen in "Dream House" and on small screens in ABC's "Combat Hospital" series. His addition to the cast ensures viewers can at least expect the strong performances characteristic of the series to remain, even if the mystery and the writing falls short once again.
