The MTV European Music Awards are on the move, as the decision has been reached to leave Germany behind for The Netherlands with the 2013 MTV EMAs.
This year's event with be the 20th annual event and will be broadcast on November 10 from the Ziggo Dome. Organizers are enthusiastic about the move west.
"We’re very excited to partner with the city of Amsterdam, a true world-class music city and top destination for artists," said Bruce Gillmer, Viacom International Media Networks executive vice president of talent and music programming/events. "We’re confident that Amsterdam, and the cutting-edge Ziggo Dome, with its state-of-the-art facilities, will be the perfect setting for what will be a very memorable and spectacular 2013 MTV EMA."
Carolien Gehrels, Amsterdam's vice mayor, praised the move.
"This is great news for the city for a number of reasons: it promises to be an exciting event for young people and music-lovers in the city, it will provide opportunities for businesses in these difficult economic times and it will allow Amsterdam to raise its international profile. A great event at an ideal moment," she said.
Will this affect you watching it in any way? This will be the second visit to The Netherland’s in the event’s history, after hitting Rotterdam in 1997.
