Cinemax is apparently staying in the “Banshee” business.
The Alan Ball action series has been given a second season by the premium cable network. The second batch of episodes of the Friday night delight will begin in 2014.
The drama focuses on Lucas Hood (played by Antony Starr), an ex- con who took a sheriff’s identity in Banshee, Pennsylvania. Hood continues his being a criminal while he is being hunted by some gangsters he did wrong years earlier.
Ivana Milicevic (“Charlie’s Angels,” HBO's “Mind of the Married Man”), Russ Blackwell (USA's “Burn Notice”), Ulrich Thomsen (“The Thing”), Frankie Faison (“The Good Wife,” “The Wire”), Hoon Lee (“Premium Rush”) and Matt Servitto (HBO’s “The Sopranos”) star in the series. Odette Annable (Fox's “House MD”) also has an arc on season one.
“Banshee” premiered in mid- January, and began with respectable ratings. The first season will consist of 10 episodes. It is the first truly homegrown series for the network, and began in development at sibling network HBO.
Alan Ball (“True Blood”), Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler, Peter Macdissi and Greg Yaitanes (“House”) are executive producers of the hour- long series.
“Banshee” airs Friday at 10 p.m. ET on Cinemax.
