If you hate Russell Brand, my apologies. For those of us that enjoy his personality and sense of humor though, this is great news. FX has decided to increase its investment in his program, Brand X with Russell Brand.
Last July, the network added seven episodes to the first season, after its successful debut. Now FX has ordered 13 more episodes, with the first hitting the airwaves on February 7.
In addition to the episode order, the network is also increasing each episode from 30 minutes in length to a full hour. In its current format, the show features Brand's monologue, as well as interviews and audience participation segments. With the new length, these areas will remain, just in an expanded format.
The show will also begin airing live. Currently it is pre-taped, so this will be a big difference for Brand but FX must have a lot of faith in his ability to pull it off.
It will return in its original 11:30 p.m. time slot, before moving up a half hour on February 28 when Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell ends its season.
What do you think of this decision? Do you watch Brand X? I have seen some clips online but never remember to watch it live.
Some of this was covered in the updates about Brand X last year... But, yes, the show is definitely fun to watch - I wonder how it will change when it becomes a "live" show, considering there is a lot of stuff that doesn't make to air now because of what Russell does with the audience and guests.
