“Witches of East End” has received a series order.
Lifetime has picked up 10 episodes of the Julia Ormond (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), Jenna Dewan- Tatum, Rachel Boston and Madchen Amick scripted drama.
“Witches of East End” is based on a Melissa de la Cruz best- selling novel. It follows Joanna Beauchamp (played by Ormond) and her adult daughters Freya (played by Dewan- Tatum) and Ingrid (played by Boston) who don’t know that they are witches. Joana also has a mischievous witch sister Wendy (played by Amick).
“Witches of East End” is the latest scripted effort for Lifetime. On March 10 Jennifer Love Hewitt’s “The Client List” and the revamped “Army Wives” return. Marc Cherry’s upcoming soap “Devious Maids” will also soon be launched.
Four hour- long pilots were ordered last summer, including “Witches.” “Cinnamon Girl’s” (produced by Renee Zellweger) fate is still undecided. “The Secret Lives of Wives” was completed by the network passed on it, while “HR” is still casting.
The “Witches of East End” pilot was written by Maggie Friedman and was directed by Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”). Erwin Stoff (“The Matrix”) of 3 Arts Entertainment will exec produce.
