The star of the “Boy Meets World” follow- up has found her best friend.
Thirteen- year -old Sabrina Carpenter will play Maya Fox, the best friend of 11- year- old Riley Matthews (played by Rowan Blanchard).
Cory Matthews (played by Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (played by Danielle Fishel) will reprise their roles on the spinoff. The couple are happily married in “Girl Meets World” and also parents to 13- year- old Riley. The story is told from Riley’s point of view.
Michael Jacobs (“Boy Meets World”) will executive produce.
The pilot will begin filming in February. It is unknown if any of the original’s other stars will return.
Carpenter, who is represented by Paradigm and Perlman Management, plays a young version of Chloe Goodwin in Fox’s “The Goodwin Games,” which has not yet been scheduled. She has also appeared on “Law & Order: SVU,” “Phineas & Ferb” and the voice of Princess Vivian in “Sofia the First.”
She also was cast on Disney XD pilot “Gulliver Quinn,” which starred Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite”) as a student returning to seventh grade after a 15- year research expedition with his family. The show was greenlit but never made it to series.
