We are not even 24 hours into Black History Month and already we have our first controversial comment from a "celebrity."
Victoria Jackson, who appeared on Saturday Night Live from 1986-1992, has become very politically outspoken in recent years, as firm supporter of the far-right. She has appeared often of Fox News and even hosts a web talk show where she talks about the state of America.
She has made her opinions about immigrants, President Barack Obama, Occupy Wall Street and homosexual marriage very public.
Now she has turned her attention towards "Black History Month." Thursday night an article appeared on her personal website (which has since been removed), which urged for the formation of "White History Month."
In it, she said that she was "... just really tired of the white male, and especially the white conservative Christian male, being attacked in cartoons, movies, TV shows, politics, Affirmative Action, etc. Just for the record, white men invented rockets, space travel, airplanes, the automobile, the English language, the U.S.A., most medical advances, electricity, television, telescope, microscope, Ivy League Universities, the computer, the Internet, and on and on. I think white men should be praised and respected. White Christian Conservative Men especially, should be loved and adored. They were the backbone and originators of the greatest nation on earth. We need more of them now."
She also urged that the shift away from white, middle-age Christian dominance (a phrase used by Alec Baldwin) was to blame for what ails America today. She called for Christian women and children to "save our country from the God-hating communists like Alec Baldwin and Obama."
After Obama's election, she said that "America is dead."
I am all for freedom of speech and respect Jackson's right to say whatever she wants. Do you agree with anything she said?
Agree or disagree, these statements come off as extreme and make her seem toxic to the television industry. Do you think any network will ever give her a role in anything again?
Uncle Ruckus approves.
I do agree with the White History Month. As well as a Hispanic History Month, Asian, etc. All nationalities should have their month. Why not? It really doesn't matter if February be dubbed Black History month. This chick is just a racist and that is simple as that. History Months for all races is what it should be. America. The Melting Pot of the world. People like Jackson need to realize that.
