The cast for the eighth (and final?) season of Showtime's serial killer series "Dexter" continues to get shaken up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Aimee Garcia, who has appeared on the series as recurring character Jamie, has been bumped up to a series regular.
Her character, sister to the titular character's coworker Angel (David Zayas), has up until now juggled graduate studies while caring for Dexter's son Harrison. The seventh season finale saw her brother on the brink of retiring from the rigorous life as a police detective in favor of opening a restaurant. However, that plan may be put on hold after the death of his ex-wife Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Velez), which may see Angel leaning on his sister for support in the upcoming season.
In addition to her role on the Showtime series, the actress can be seen in a recurring role on CBS' "Vegas" as well as the upcoming remake of "Robocop" starring Joel Kinnaman and Gary Oldman.
Garcia's move to series regular could also mean that familial strife and Dexter's role as a father may take a more prominent role going forward. Another new series regular, Charlotte Rampling ("Melancholia"), will portray a psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths. Could her addition to the cast coupled with Garcia's upgraded role mean that young Harrison has inherited his father's 'Dark Passenger'?
