Aisha Hinds, who portrayed the con artist/witch doctor Miss Jeanette on the first season of HBO's True Blood, has joined the cast of the CBS summer series Under The Dome.
In the 13-episode adaptation of Stephen King's 2009 novel, Hinds will play a powerful entertainment attorney from Los Angeles named Carolyn Hill. While she and her partner are driving their teenage daughter to a camp for troubled youth, Carolyn finds herself stuck in the small New England town of Chester's Mill when it is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a transparent dome. The town descends into chaos as the inhabitants search for answers about the barrier, including if and when it will ever go away.
In addition to her latest commitment, Hinds will appear in a recurring role on The CW's midseason drama Cult, scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, February 19. She also recently agreed to guest-star in an hour-long pilot from Numb3rs creators Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton for the USA Network. Hinds has a plethora of television credits to her name, including turns on CSI: Miami, Weeds, Dollhouse, and Detroit 1-8-7.
Under The Dome will launch on Monday, June 24 at 10:00 PM on CBS. Previously confirmed cast members include Britt Robertson, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, and Alex Koch.
