Anyone up for a game of Clue? ABC thinks you are, as it is adding an unscripted murder mystery reality show called Whodunnit? to its summer lineup.
The series, which is being developed by CSI co-creator Anthony E. Zuiker, has had nine episodes ordered.
Zuiker's company Dare to Pass and Cris Abrego's 51 Minds are producing the program. Whodunnit? will feature 13 contestants competing to solve a murder mystery in a manner like the classic Clue board game. The investigators will use real life crime-scene investigation techniques to find and understand staged evidence.
The contestants will be living together in a ritzy manor, with a new crime being presented each week. One player will eventually unmask the killer at the end of the series and win the $250,000 prize.
Does this sound awesome to anyone else or is it just me? I loved Clue as a kid and own three different versions of it today (Harry Potter Clue!). This sounds like it could be a huge hit to me, depending on how well it is done and how interesting viewers find the contestants. I am a little surprised they only ordered nine episodes, however, as this seems like it could be a lengthy program. Just when viewers get into the series, it will be over!
