In a repeat of last week, CBS soundly trounced everyone else in both demos and totals. NCIS dropped a measly tenth, but still destroyed the competition. NCIS: LA matched last Tuesday. The lone drag on CBS' dominance was Vegas, which fell 16%. ABC reality series had a good showing with The Taste back up 13% after a big drop in week two, and a special airing of The Bachelor up 8%.
FOX's comedy block continues to struggle, with two Raising Hopes and a New Girl all falling around 5%. The Mindy Project was the lone bright spot, climbing up 12%. NBC's jokingly titled Betty White's 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special was a huge flop, diving 44% from last year's special. That surely means we won't be getting a third annual one.
The big story of the night was the two-hour premiere of musical drama Smash (which we told you about earlier today). The broadcast scored a series low in every respect, falling a mind-boggling 71% from last year's debut, and even dropping nearly 40% from May's finale. That sound you hear right now isn't singing, it's the cancellation axe beginning to swing. As for the C-dubs, Hart of Dixie rose a healthy 20%, and Emily Owens MD's series finale continued to match its perpetual 0.4.
