I am a huge Andy Samberg fan and I have the highest hopes that his new cop comedy series on Fox will do great numbers for the comedian. I have been on Team Samberg since the fantastic Hot Rod film and really believe that he is going to have a fantastic career when all is said and done.
While details are not totally clear about the new series yet (which does not have a name), we do know that Samberg (who is most famous for his Saturday Night Live work, as well as his band Lonely Island) will be playing the top cop at the New York precinct he works at.
We also now know that Stephanie Beatriz will be playing Meghan, a sexy crime fighter who sometimes goes a little too far over the top. She is opinionated and a bit of a wild card, which keeps the other cops (and crooks) on their toes. Beatriz was most recently seen on Modern Family. She has also appeared on The Closer and The Smart One.
Melissa Fumero (One Life to Live) has also been cast as Amy, a former middle-school teacher turned cop. Terry Crews is also attached, in an unrevealed role.
The series is being developed by Parks and Recreations' Dan Goor and Mike Schur. I have really high hopes for this program and hope it does not let me down.
