FOX's Ben and Kate may be in limbo, but co-star Dakota Johnson has a Need For Speed.
The 23-year-old offspring of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith is joining another television star in the cast of Dreamworks' film adaptation of the popular EA street-racing video game franchise.
Set for release on February 7, 2014, Need For Speed promises to focus on '70s style fast-paced, high-octane cars. Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad will star as Tobey Marshall, who races from New York to Los Angeles at impossible speeds to exact revenge on the man that killed his best friend.
The cast also includes Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Michael Keaton, Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, and Harrison Gilbertson. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) will direct from a script penned by George Gatins.
Prior to starring in Ben and Kate, Johnson appeared in feature films such as 21 Jump Street, The Five-Year Engagement, and The Social Network.
Last month, FOX pulled Ben and Kate from the schedule indefinitely, although the network has yet to officially cancel the show. When it was yanked, FOX noted that the series would complete production on its 19-episode order, meaning that the six unaired episodes will likely be burned off over the summer.
