The “Zombieland” pilot, which has been scooped up by Amazon, has cast two individuals in the lead roles of Columbus and Little Rock. Tyler Ross, who recently was recognized as a breakout star at the Sundance Film Festival for his leading role in “Milkshake”, has been cast as awkward teen Columbus. The character of Little Rock has been filled by up-and-coming star Izabela Vidovic, who has recently finished filming the movie “Homefront” and has done two other pilots (“Little Brother” and “Little in Common”). Does anyone else sense a “little” pattern here?
The project will be produced by Sony TV and will pick up where the movie left off. “Zombieland” follows the adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock as they attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse together. In the film, Columbus was played by the adorably nerdy Jesse Eisenberg, who also narrates the story. Little Rock, a young girl that is wise beyond her years, was played in the film by Abigail Breslin.
I do not personally know much about the acting talent of either individuals, but if they are going to visual similarities to the movie versions I think their casting choices are spot on so far. I look forward to see who they choose to play the role of Wichita, and more importantly, Tallahassee.
