During the February 18 episode of Saturday Night Live, the host of the March 3 episode was revealed, and it's none other than Lindsay Lohan! The actress will return to the show for her fourth hosting gig in March, alongside musical guest Jack White. Lohan doesn't have anything to promote with her hosting stint, but it's not too hard to figure out why she is hosting: the folks over at Saturday Night Life just like her.
Lohan's led a troubled life plagued with substance abuse, but SNL has never been a show to poke fun at the fact. According to Entertainment Weekly, Saturday Night Live head honcho Lorne Michaels "was too fond of the actress to make fun of her during trying times." Last year, though, Lohan was parodied on the series rather toothlessly by singer Miley Cyrus; a slightly more effective impression of the star was done on the show by Emma Stone in 2010.
Lohan's previous stints on the show featured a memorable Harry Potter sketch (in which Lohan played Hermione) and perhaps most notably, an opening monologue titled "The Ghost of Lindsay Future," which attempted to downplay reports of Lindsay's troubles but in retrospect only appear remarkably prescient.
But perhaps Lohan, who was forced to drop out of the 2010 film Inferno due to her substance abuse, is experiencing a bit of a turnaround. She's been strictly adhering to her court-ordered probation, and last year posed for a Playboy pictorial that caused the magazine to have its biggest sales in years.
It will certainly be interesting to see if Lohan's performance on the series in March will be laughable for all the right reasons, or whether it'll be just another false start in a career of false starts.
Lohan's episode, the next on Saturday Night Live's lineup, will air March 3. The following week, Jonah Hill will host with an as-yet unknown musical guest. Sometime after that will see teen pop star Justin Bieber juggle hosting and musical guest duties.
