I should preface this article by saying that I am likely one of the biggest “Friday Night Lights” fans you will ever come across (Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!). When one of the shows alum gets a role in a television series I get all nostalgic and am extremely likely to check it out. Aimee Teegarden played Coach Taylor’s daughter, Julie Taylor, on “Friday Night Lights” and she has just landed the lead role in The CW’s new drama pilot “Oxygen”.
This is not Teegarden’s first time headlining for the network; she starred in the networks pilot “The Selection” last fall and was a guest star on the first season of “90210”. “Oxygen”, from “Good Wife” writer Meredith Averill, is described as an epic romance. The out-of-this-world pilot will follow a human girl, Emery, and an alien boy. The alien boy and eight others of his kind called The Orion 9 are attempting to integrate themselves into a normal suburban high school. Ten years before this, hundreds of other aliens of this kind landed on Earth. Of course, this “epic romance” will feature Teegarden falling in love with the alien boy.
The show currently has Josh Appelbaum (“Life on Mars”), Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg signed on as EPs.
