Friday night saw ABC manage to win the key demos, but CBS still easily took the total viewer crown.
Comedies Last Man Standing and Malibu Country recovered nicely from their recent drops, with LMS rising 14%, and MC going up 8%. The ever reliable Shark Tank matched last week. The only bad spot for ABC was 20/20, which fell 13%.
CBS' new reality competition show The Job may soon find itself unemployed, with the series premiere coming in a staggering 53% below Undercover Boss' season debut back in November, and a full point below last week's episode of "Boss". The demo number is actually just as bad as the quickly canceled NBC drama Do No Harm. In short, I'd be surprised if this make it to episode three. Thankfully for the Eye, its crime procedurals picked up the slack, as CSI: NY matched its season high, and Blue Bloods matched last week.
CBS wasn't the only network to suffer a bad premiere last night, as FOX's Touch returned to a horrifyingly low 1.0 demo. That number is a jaw-dropping 70%(!) lower than its 2012 series premiere (which to be fair had an American Idol lead-in), and down 30% from last May's season finale. Kiefer Sutherland or no, I will be incredibly surprised if the show gets a third season with these numbers.
Finally, it was news magazine night on NBC, with Dateline up 36% from last week, and Rock Center up an extremely healthy 63% from its last original outing. Although that sounds less impressive when you point out that the 63% jump still only brought it to a 1.3. Oh, and a new Nikita rose 25% for the CW, further cementing that the move back to 8pm was a positive one.
