In the world of Hollywood, looking young, staying thin, having muscles and basically keeping the perfect image is a so-called career necessity. It’s also no shocker when actors and actresses get plastic surgery to fulfill these “recommendations.” Some celebs are lucky and don’t need work. Why? They look like they’ve been drinking from the fountain of youth. Here are 10 stars that are aging gracefully, and look younger than they actually are.
1. Jim Parsons
Jim Parsons plays the extremely intelligent, pain in the ass, yet loveable, Caltech theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory.” He may dress like a little boy on the show, hence the comic book shirts, but that doesn’t mean he is one. Parsons looks far younger than his actual age. Currently, he’s 39, but in March he will be over the hill, and turn the big 4-0. With that baby face, who knew?! One would think all those difficult lines would add wrinkles, but the science is doing him wonders.
2. Sarah Hyland
An actor or actress who plays a teenager on TV, should be that same age, right? Not in the TV world. Sarah Hyland plays the not-so-bright Haley Dunphy on ABC’s “Modern Family,” who is more concerned about boys and popularity. Even though she’s 22 in real life, Dunphy looks more like the 18-year-old she portrays on the comedy. She actually looks younger, especially without makeup. Maybe it’s because she’s a younger actress, but I have a feeling Hyland will look youthful even at 40.
3. David McCallum
Who doesn’t love Dr. Donald Mallard aka Ducky on “NCIS”? He’s adorable, tells those interesting tales in autopsy, is a mentor to Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and is a grandfather figure. The loveable medical examiner is played by David McCallum, also known for “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” Yes, he’s an older actor, but he does not look 79. McCallum looks more like 60. I wonder what his secret to old age is?
4. Grace Park
Kono might have been played by a man in the original “Hawaii Five-0,” but now the role is portrayed by the lovely Grace Park. When she isn’t busy kicking ass, she’s busy looking good. Take a look at her picture, and tell me Park doesn’t look a lot younger than 38. She’s even older than Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan. What are her beauty secrets?
5. Gabriel Mann
Gabriel Mann plays genius software inventor, computer hacker and Emily Thorne’s (Emily VanCamp) trusted ally, Nolan Ross. Oh, and of course he’s also known for his eccentric outfits. In real life, Mann is 40 years young. When I first looked him up, during Season 1, I couldn’t believe he was that old. All those secrets, lies and murders on ABC’s hit drama hasn’t affected him at all.
6. Mariska Hargitay
For about 14 years, Mariska Hargitay has played Detective Olivia Benson on NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” We’ve seen her, and Olivia, change season after season, but one thing that hasn’t changed is her ageless beauty. Can you believe Hargitay is almost 50? As a 49-year-old actress, wife and mother, to her three children, Hargitay channels the youthfulness of a 20 year old.
7. Jason Earles
Jason Earles is most popular for his role on Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana,” where he played Jackson Stewart, alongside Miley Cyrus. Currently, he stars as Rudy on “Kickin’ It.” He is one man that looks quite young. Earles is actually 35, but doesn’t look a day over 20, if that. All those martial art skills on “Kickin’ It’ must be keeping him in shape and looking young.
8. Kelly Hu
She is one actress that appears on a lot of TV shows. For example, most recently Kelly Hu has played a vampire on “The Vampire Diaries,” the governor’s liaison on “Hawaii Five-0” and now she portrays a badass mercenary named China White on CW’s “Arrow.” Hu is one busy woman. In just two days, the actress will be 45. Yes, you read that right. Her busy schedule doesn’t seem to speed up the aging process, or the wrinkles.
9. Cory Monteith
Finn Hudson is a well-loved character on FOX’s “Glee” - mainly for his attractiveness and singing abilities. Played by Cory Monteith, Finn is much younger than the real life actor, who is actually 30. Monteith also joins fellow 30-year-old Mark Salling, as being two of the oldest high school characters on the hit series.
10. Pauley Perrette
Pauley Perrette is one of the most beloved forensic scientists on TV for her portrayal of genius goth Abby Sciuto on “NCIS.” Behind all those goofy outfits, dark makeup and loud music, is just another actress who is drinking out of the fountain of youth. At 43-years-old, Perrette is doing something right. She even emulates her youthful look by sporting pigtails, as Abby, in every episode.
