Infamous 'Survivor' competitor talks return to series

For long-time fans of "Survivor," Erik Reichenbach holds the dubious distinction of making one of the most memorable moves in series history.

It just wasn't a good move. Quite the contrary, it's been dubbed the undisputed Dumbest Survivor Move Ever, as on the precipice of the final four he gave up his immunity necklace to a rival competitor.

The move was one of the many highlights of the first "Fans vs Favorites" season -- on Wednesday, the theme (and Reichenbach) returns once again, and Entertainment Weekly spoke with the competitor to see what his strategy is this time around.

When asked how many Immunity necklaces he plans on giving away this season, the castaway joked, "Ummmm, probably about two. But then I’ll have a hidden idol, so I’ll be okay." He continued,
"I’m going into this one more relaxed than before. Before I was so paranoid that it kind of ruined me, like I was overthinking everything. This one I have a good feeling about, but we’ll see how it goes."

Reichenbach insists he is not worried about the stigma of his past gameplay, rather hinting that it could play into his advantage. "The preconceived thing is probably that I’m just happy-go-lucky and kind of stupid — just kind of a fun, stupid guy. Like a goofball, really," he said. "And that can work to your advantage sometimes, so I’m not too concerned about that. And I kind of am that anyway."

Whereas his first go around on "Survivor: Micronesia" saw him on the 'Fans' tribe, Reichenbach feels he is coming into the game in a very different frame of mind on the 'Favorites' tribe. "What I learned is that it’s a very social game as opposed to a physical game, which is what I was prepared for. I was more prepared for a physical game. I learned a lot obviously, because it was my first time even out of the country," he explained. "It was a life-changing thing for me, I was still really young. I’ve grown a lot since then. I’ve been traveling a lot. I feel like I’m just more worldly now, which will help me out."
