Rejoice “Home Improvement” fans! If you have been itching to see another reunion on “Last Man Standing”, then your wish is my command (not really, I had no part in this casting). Tim Allen’s sitcom has been performing fairly well in the ratings department. Holding steady on Friday night, it has tied for first place in the 8pm timeslot and has an average of 7.9 million viewers. Earlier this season Allen’s Tool Time friend Al Borland, or should I say Richard Karn, had a guest role as an architect on the show. Now, Allen’s “Home Improvement” son Jonathon Taylor Thomas will be guest starring in an episode to be released in March or April.
Thomas’ character will be a manager of a fancy restaurant where Kristin Baxter (Amanda Fuller) tries to land a job. Thomas has only been booked for a single episode thus far, but his character might be an ideal match for Tim’s daughter Kristin, so if love is in the air at the restaurant then more episodes could be on the menu.
In an interview in September of 2011, Thomas told EW that he was thinking about getting back into acting. “I’ve been going to school, and traveling quite a bit, getting to read a lot of books I’ve wanted to for quite some time,” said Thomas. “I think at this point, I’d eventually like to work behind the camera. That’s not to say I would never act again, I’m not quite sure to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film could see myself working in it.” He was at that point asked whether he would consider guest starring on “Last Man Standing”, to which he said, “We’ll see about that. I’m sure they have a lot of stories they want to get to.”
Looks like your story is up! Maybe the rest of the “Home Improvement” alums should open their schedules and get in line.
