The “Vampire Diaries” spin-off, titled “The Originals”, has cast another member of the family. Claire Holt, who played Rebekah in “Vampire Diaries”, will be returning as the same character in “The Originals”. The pilot will air during the regular season of “Vampire Diaries” on April 25th. While it was originally assume that Holt would reprise her role as soon as the pilot was announced, there were rumours that they were having difficulty reaching an agreement with the actress. The network has evidently worked things out, and Holt is the fourth “Vampire Diaries” cast member that will make the transition to the spinoff. Holt will be joining fellow cast members Pheobe Tonkin (who will play werewolf Hayley), Joseph Morgan (Klaus) and Daniel Gillies (Elijah).
Rebekah, the vampire sister of Klaus and Elijah, is the third member of Original vampires who still survive. Two other brothers recently met their demise on “Vampire Diaries”, and so the family has become a trio. The pilot, written by “Vampire Diaries” co-creator and executive producer Julie Plec will follow Klaus to the French Quarter of New Orleans. Nearly a century ago, Klaus helped to build the French Quarter, and he now will find himself unwillingly reunited with his former friend Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Brother Elijah will be attempting to help Klaus find redemption, but it won’t come easy.
Rebekah’s role in the pilot episode has yet to be released.
