Primetime Ratings, Thursday, 2/14/13

Valentine's Day is usually a pretty weak night for TV viewing, and this year was no different. CBS did still win in totals and demos (because of course it did), but all five networks saw their audiences drop.

The Big Bang Theory continues to yo-yo, losing almost everything it gained last week. That didn't prevent it from handily winning its timeslot regardless. Two and a Half Men and Person Of Interest saw much smaller drops, while Elementary remains consistently hovering around a 2.0. The news was no better for FOX, as American Idol fell half a point from last Thursday. Lead-out Glee also managed to shed half a point.

In what has been a bad few weeks for new dramas, ABC's Zero Hour premiered to a 1.3 demo, and a little over 6 million total viewers. This easily ranks as the lowest rated "in-season" scripted premiere in network history. Zero Hour will be extremely lucky to get a second one. The bad lead-in brought Grey's Anatomy to a series low, although the ever reliable Scandal matched last week.

The most baffling story of the night has to be the inexplicable nosedive taken by Community. After returning to its biggest audience in over a year last week, the pop-culture obsessed sitcom completely fell off a cliff in week two, dropping nearly a whole point to a pathetic 1.1. That number represents a series low for the comedy, and makes one wonder if the Greendale gang is long for this world. Parks & Recreation followed this up by going down half a point as well. Only The Office stayed the course.

Finally, CW programs The Vampire Diaries and Beauty and the Beast fell a single tenth each.
