We're still about half a year away from seeing any new episodes of Doctor Who. The wait for series 7 is killing us, but reports are thankfully starting to trickle in from the set. Here's a nice juicy spoiler for you: actor and comedian Mark Williams has reportedly been spotted on set.
Don't know who Mark Williams is? You might not think you do, but you've seen him before: he portrayed Ron's dad, Arthur Weasley, in every Harry Potter film but the first. In addition to his role in the Potter films, though, Williams has appeared in films such as Stardust (written by Neil Gaiman, who penned a 'Who' episode last year), The Borrowers, and Flutter. His television career is much more extensive; he's appeared in Merlin, New Tricks, Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, and earlier this year appeared on Being Human as Regus.
So now the question is this: Who is Williams playing? He's been spotted on set along with actors Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill (Amy Pond and Rory Williams), both of whom are starting to shoot their final batch of episodes before leaving. With their departure imminent, several fans are starting to speculate that Williams will be playing Rory's father, who has up until this point remained unseen (even at the couple's wedding in the series 5 finale). The two do have a similar look that could give credence to this theory, though of course it's all speculation at this point. Doctor Who is, as you might know, an incredibly secretive operation.
After a very long hiatus following the 2011 Christmas special, Doctor Who's seventh series will premiere on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US sometime in the fall. As filming continues to heat up and more reports from the set come in, we'll keep you posted on the latest Who news.
