Handsome character actor Corey Reynolds is making the move from supporting to lead character, having won a co-lead role in FOX's upcoming pilot 'Delirium.'
'Delirium' stars Emma Roberts opposite Reynolds. Adapted from a trilogy of novels written by Lauren Oliver, 'Delirium' is set in a world where love is deemed illegal and can be eradicated with a special procedure. With only ninety-five days to go until her scheduled love-eradication, Lena Holoway (Roberts) does the unthinkable: she falls in love.
So where does Corey Reynolds fit in? Well Reynolds plays Lawrence Task, the strategic, authoritative, no-BS leader in the budding Resistance movement who believe that love should be okay because it aint so bad, huh? Besides, there's all dem pretty songs about it...
Having not read the Oliver books, I sought out synopses online: "They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen." 'Delirium' is listed as a New York Times Bestseller and the winner of several Young Adult fiction awards.
What is not explained on the publisher's nor the author's website is why anyone would wish to eradicate love. What on Earth would governments have to gain by spending billions to this end? What was the problem love was causing in the first place? So far, this high concept is still lacking in the concept area.
Reynolds is best known for his work on 'The Closer' as Seargent David Gabriel, a role he played for 109 episodes. Aside from 'The Closer,' Reynolds has made guest appearances on 'Private Practice' and 'NCIS.'
