Veteran character actor, writer, and comedian Thomas Lennon is set to return to primetime.
Lennon has signed on to join the cast of one of NBC's pet comedy projects, the currently untitled Sean Hayes pilot, the former "Will & Grace" star's temperamental new boss on the show.
The series, from writer Victor Fresco ("Better Off Ted"), centers on Hayes as a father confronted with a tumultuous work life and the sudden addition of a rebellious fourteen year old daughter to his home life. Lennon's character will round out the former portion of the concept, a gruff and blunt new supervisor and owner of an online retail company who is seemingly fine with not being well liked by his employees.
The actor joins the already cast supporting players Linda Lavin ("Alice") as Sean's tough and unreasonable mother, as well as Echo Kellum ("Ben and Kate") who will play a co-worker suffering under Lennon's work rule.
Lennon has been a mainstay in numerous comedy projects spanning features and television. On the small screen, he is perhaps best known for his turn as Lt. Jim Dangle on Comedy Central's "Reno 911" or MTV's cult sketch show "The State." In film, not only has he had supporting roles in "I Love You, Man," "Bad Teacher," and others, he has found equal success screenwriting with the smash Ben Stiller hit "Night at the Museum."
