Are you excited for NBC's Hannibal series? Personally, I am a little torn. I love "The Silence of the Lambs," enjoyed "Manhunter," think that "Hannibal" is decent and thought "Red Dragon" was okay. I did not watch "Hannibal Rising" because I thought it would turn into my lunch, rising.
This series has some real potential, though. First of all, Mads Mikkelsen is playing Hannibal. He was fantastic in "Casino Royale" as Le Chiffre and I really think he can embody what Lecter is all about. Add in the fact that Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller is masterminding the series (a fascinating choice, really, as his other work does not appear to fit into the mold of our beloved cannibal serial killer anti-hero, but he has some real chops), and I think this series has a real chance.
Hugh Dancy as FBI agent Will Graham has drawn some praise around the web as well, but I am not familiar enough with his work to really comment. But toss in Morpheus himself, Laurence Fishburne, as agent Jack Crawford and you are cooking.
NBC has released the first promo for the series, which premieres April 4 at 10 p.m. Here it is, for your viewing pleasure.
Are you in on this?
Looking forward to seeing what Mads Mikkelsen can do with this role. Hope it turns out very well.
