Today is a day I have been looking forward to for quite some time. The second season of HBO's smash hit Game of Thrones is here on home video at long last! I had the misfortune of moving during the second season and did not get a chance to watch any of it (insert sad face here), but have heard so many good things that this had to be a day one purchase for me.
Included in the set as special features are 12 audio commentaries with members of the cast and crew, a look at the religions of Westeros, a look into how the crew created the Battle of Blackwater Bay, a feature on the Inner Circle on Game of Thrones, character profiles, in-episode guides, a look at the histories and lore of the show, a look at the War of the Five Kings, as well as hidden "Dragon" eggs.
Season 2 is shaped by the coming winter - the season of the white raven. King Joffrey occupies the Iron Throne and continues to be his cruel little self. Tyrion is the new Hand of the King, but the Lannister hold on the throne is under attack from all sides. Robb Stark holds Jamie Lannister prisoner, while Daenerys Targaryen and her new dragon babies is attempting to secure power in the east. We are also introduced to two Baratheon brothers, Stannis and Renly, who are not that thrilled with being overlooked when the time came for a new king. A new threat is also emerging North of the Wall that we will see more of in season three.
Currently the series can be bought for $24.99 on DVD and $29.99 on Blu Ray at Amazon.
