The “Broken City” director has just signed on for his broadcast pilot directing debut.
Allen Hughes will direct “Gang Related” for Fox, from 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV.
Chris Morgan (“Fast Five”) is writing the show, which centers on a gang member infiltrating the San Francisco Police Department. He rises through the ranks but has to counterweight his duties to his crime family with a growing loyalty to the SFPD’s Gang Task Force.
Scott Rosenbaum (“Grown Ups”) is the showrunner on the pilot, and he and Morgan exec produced it with Brian Grazer (“Entourage”) and Francie Calfo (“Scoundrels,” “The Playboy Club”) from Imagine.
Hughes began in a brother tandem with twin Albert on movies such as “Book of Eli,” “From Hell” and Menace II Society.”
“Broken City was his solo- directing feature debut, and starred Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta- Jones. His next feature is a remake of “A Bittersweet Life” (a 2005 Korean crime drama) for Fox and New Regency.
He previously directed a pilot for USA series “Touching Evil,” which he also executive produced. "Touching Evil" starred Jeffrey Donovan and Vera Farmiga.
